East Grand Forks department heads give updates on local projects

EAST GRAND FORKS — A few East Grand Forks department heads during Tuesday s City Council meeting gave updates on various projects going on around the city. Parks and Recreation Superintendent Jorgen Erickson gave a status update on renovation projects at the Civic Center and VFW Memorial Arena. He said the ice has been made at the Civic Center, but because the building is still under construction, only the locker rooms and ice are available to hockey players. In the lobby, the floor tiles have been installed and the walls have been repainted. The parking lot signage has been installed. Erickson said exterior site work should be completed by the end of the week. At the VFW Memorial Arena, Erickson said the exterior paint has been finished and bleachers have been installed inside. Groundwork has also been started for sewer line replacement at the back of the building. The parking lot has also been paved and painted. (City Administrator Reid Huttunen) and I just went
